Wales


Wales is in the south-west of the island of Great Britain and is part of the United Kingdom. It is bordered by England to the east, the Bristol Channel to the south and the Irish Sea to the north and west. Wales’ total area is 20,779 sq. km, and its geography is varied, with flat coastal plains in the south and mountainous areas further north.

Wales has a changeable maritime climate and is one of the wettest countries in Europe. The weather is often cloudy, wet and windy, with mild winters and warm summers. Average annual temperatures reach 10.5°C in coastal areas and 1°C lower in low-lying inland areas. Summers tend to be warm and sunny at low elevations. Average maximum temperatures are between 19°C and 22°C.

  • Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR): travellers born during or after 1966 are recommended to have received two vaccinations previously
  • Meningococcal ACWY
  • Polio: per childhood schedule
  • SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)
